Helpful Networking Tips
- Always connect with a mindset of how can I help, give, or connect someone to what will help them move forward
- Why: When we look to help others, we will often find that others will also look to help us and our circle of influence will continue to grow.
- After a networking event or meeting be sure to follow up with an email
- Example: It was really great to meet you at last night’s chamber event. I really enjoyed learning about your trip to Italy and how you take your passion for food and transform it into how you service your banking customers. I’d like to continue our conversation, would you be open to meeting for a coffee or a Zoom meeting?
- Connect with them on LinkedIn
- If you have Sales Navigator drill in to get extra information and download connection directly into your CRM
- Set up a connection meeting
- Follow up at a regular cadence (3 to 6 months) or more depending on the strength of the connection. Include interesting articles they would appreciate, birthday wishes, or event invites to let them know you are thinking of them
- Decide if you’d like to continue growing your connection and if yes start the process again with setting up another connection meeting and following up
- Work toward a goal that would benefit both of you, whether that is finding one or two connections to send to them or resources to share.
